Toavoidscandal,BlairandNancymovetoEngland,andafterWorldWarIIbreaksout,Blairvolunteershismedicalservices,whileNancybecomesanambulancedriver.ExpressingconcernoverBlair'shealth,NancyinsiststhattheytakeavacationatLordandLadyWyndham'smanorhouse.Justastheyareleaving,BlairlearnsthatoneofLadyWyndham'svaluablejewelshasbeenstolen.BlairsuspectsNancybutisunabletoproveanythinguntilabombdestroystheirflatandrevealshercacheofstolenjewels. Althoughconfronteddirectly,NancycontinuestodenyanyguiltanddivorcesBlairafterhesuffersanervousbreakdown.BackinJohn'sstudy,Blair,likeClydebeforehim,triestoconvinceJohntoabandonNancy,whonowusesthenamePatton.John,however,believesNancywhenshetellshimthatBlairisstillsufferingfromhisbreakdown.
